Loveliest of lovely things are they,
On earth, that soonest pass away.

Is prized beyond the sculptured flower.

HODGE PODGE DAY
Today we have some neat tips-- I am reprinting a few
from a couple of years ago too!
FRESH GARDEN SALAD
Here's a quick salad I just threw together which turned
out great (I think).
1 can drained CHICKPEAS
1 raw quartered and diced YELLOW SUMMER SQUASH
1 raw quartered diced small ZUCCHINI
finely chopped fresh GARLIC
diced BEEFSTEAK TOMATO
DRIED BASIL (although fresh would be even better)
fresh LEMON JUICE
OLIVE OIL
SALT
PEPPER
It's quick; it's easy' it's refreshing; and it's delicious! If I
still ate wheat, an added cup of Bulgar would have made
this a complete meal. A can of tuna probably couldn't
have hurt either. ~Tom W.
MOONLIGHT GARDENS
Another thing that you could plant if you lived in an area
like mine, Phoenix, Arizona, is to plant cactus that flower
only at night. I have never seen anything so beautiful as
these white cactus flowers. They average about 3 to 4
inches across and are similar to a morning glory. They
can only be planted outdoors where the temperature
stays above freezing, though. ~Doreen T.
HOUSEHOLD HELPS
Here is a tip for keeping your dried roses dust free longer:
As soon as they are dried, spray them with hairspray (the
cheaper the better). Then you can blow on them to get rid
of the dust without the petals falling off. ~Hella
The best dish for resting SOS pads between uses is a
small clay bottom from a clay flower pot. The clay absorbs
the moisture and prevents the pad from rusting. ~L. Bennett
I was having a garage sale and wanted to get rid of some
"what not" that had been stored away. They were dusty.
I was not looking foward to cleaning them. I ended up
putting them all on a towel in the sink and spraying them
with barthroom foam cleanser. I let them sit for a while.
When I came back all I had to do was run them under
warm running water and brush them with a soft old
toothbrush. I almost wanted to keep them, they looked
like new. ~Sheliah L.
